Sundown Salute 2011 Day 1

Sundown Salute is Junction City's (our future hometown LOL) annual 4th of July Celebration. It is billed as Kansas' largest free fair. The first day always opens with a FREE Hamburger Feed. I had read once that the carnival people sponsor it, but it is always put on by the firefighters and volunteers (in case the firefighters have to go on a call, like tonight. The all RACED back to the station)

While standing in the long line I snapped a couple pictures

SS always has a bevy of bands and people stake their spots early

This evening's lineup was Cimino(they played rock music), a ZZ Top Tribute Band, Journey Tribute Band and Aerosmith Tribute Band.

I always get a fresh squeezed lemonade from the people in the giant lemon (picture at a later time)

This is cute

So is this

This will be the food place I will be hanging out at most LOL. Can you guess what I am going to get???

We wanted to stay for the bands, BUT it was sweltering hot and I was physically and emotionally drained from home hunting. Tomorrow we will go for the car show and hopefully in the evening to hear some bands :) And get some fried mushrooms and pickles and candy bars!! LOL.
